1970

Salvatore “Sal” Altizio passed away in May 2023 after a heroic battle with cancer. He was a member of Theta Zi Omega fraternity. Sal had a successful career in airport maintenance management. He is survived by two sons and three grandchildren, and former wife Stephanie Rice Latman.

1973

Peter Paluzzi’s photography was featured in the “Frame of Mind” exhibition at the Harvey Milk Center Gallery in San Francisco, November-December 2023.

Peter Paluzzi ’73 captured several campus scenes during his 50th reunion weekend in October.

1974

Important news for the class of ’74: We will be celebrating our 50-Year Class Reunion and induction into the University’s Half Century Club during Homecoming 2024, Oct. 18-20! This will be a wonderful time to visit the ever-changing campus, meet old friends and make new ones! Classmates from the classes of ’73 and ’75 are welcome to join the festivities, as well as members from fraternities, sororities and other clubs or organizations. 1975

Lt. Gen. Michael J. Basla, United States Air Force (Ret.), was inducted into the Air Force Cyberspace and Operations Support Hall of Fame. Lt. Gen. Basla is a past recipient of the Stoneman Distinguished Alumni Award and is a UAlbany football alum.

1976

Karen Golding Kushner received two awards at the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association convention. The Frank R. Kleffner Lifetime Clinical Career Award by the ASHA Foundation, and Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contributions in Clinical Achievement.

1977

Dr. Marc Rosenthal received the American College of Emergency Physicians Disaster Medical Sciences Award. He is an attending physician with Medical Center Emergency Services and professor of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He has been a member of the National Disaster Medical System since 1999. While at UAlbany, Marc was involved in Five Quad, the sail racing team, amateur radio club and the club fencing team.

The Department of Education's Counseling and Personnel Service graduate school class of 1978 recently celebrated their 45th reunion with a Hawaiian-style gathering in Albany. At just 36 members, the class was extremely close. Four couples from the class stayed together rand eventually married.

1979

Kenneth Kurtz was elected vice president of the American College of Prosthodontists. He is a prosthodontist in the Bronx.
