Welcome, Holly!
For the first time in several years, there’s anew staff member at the Alumni Association. In July, we welcomed Holly Barker-Flynn as director of Alumni Programs. She brings over two decades of dedicated service to the University, which she “considers more than just a job, but a fulfilling adventure." Holly’s journey at UAlbany has been marked by her passion for supporting students and fostering a welcoming environment on campus. She’s excited to bring this experience to alumni relations, where she oversees the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) program, Purple & Gold Student Ambassadors, career-related events and the annual Excellence Awards Gala. Holly thrives on daily interactions with members of the UAlbany community and enjoys celebrating the richness of their diverse backgrounds –attributes that will serve her well in this new role. The next time you’re on campus or at an alumni event, be sure to say ‘hi’ to Holly!
What are you most excited about in your new role?
HBF: Reconnecting with my former student leaders as alumni, meeting and engaging with new alumni and learning about the amazing impact they are having on the world. I’m also looking forward to staying connected with current students through the Purple and Gold Student Ambassadors program. They give me hope for the future.
What is your favorite time of year on campus?
HBF: Spring when the azalea gardens are in bloom.
What’s one thing you’d like to say to the UAlbany alumni community?
HBF: UAlbany is home to me. The people I’ve met here have taught me so much about the world and have inspired me to want to do what I can to make the world a better place for all of us.
